Welcome to Alvogen,
where we are carving a leadership position in an emerging “third”
category of prescription drugs beside branded pharmaceuticals
and commoditized generics. While we are not the first Specialty
Generics company, we are among the very first to focus exclusively
on this promising niche market.
In comparison to commodity generics, which are sold almost exclusively
on price, Specialty Generics offer a value-added component by
providing treatments to patients through the use of specialized
technology platforms, such as transdermal patches, liquid formulations,
extended release systems or other high-tech delivery features.
These technologies can offer other distinct benefits to both
patients and society. Through fewer side effects and greater
convenience, specialty pharmaceuticals can promote improved
patient compliance to treatment regimens. At Alvogen, we also
recognize the challenges faced by our society resulting from
ever escalating healthcare costs. We see it as part of our mission
to promote the greater use of Specialty Generics to help address
these challenges for the benefit of both the healthcare system
and individual consumers.
As we chart our course going forward, we do so from a unique
triad of growth drivers. The first is our affiliated Norwich
Pharmaceuticals business in upstate New York, a 375,000 square
foot, state of the art pharmaceutical manufacturing center,
with a superb record of serving global customers and meeting
the quality and compliance requirements of regulatory agencies
worldwide.
The second growth driver is our affiliation with SuMas Pharmaceutical
Group (SPG) and our ability to leverage its extensive product
portfolio and development pipeline in the Middle East, North
Africa and Europe. This includes access to our 6 R&D and
production centers of excellence positioned across 3 continents.
Finally, Alvogen has successfully attracted additional investment
from its leading equity partner; New York City based AFI Partners,
with funds being applied to building an expanded and strengthened
management team, as well as further manufacturing capacity at
its Norwich, NY facilities.
