Alvogen and UNICEF Iceland started a World Cup 2018 campaign and invited other companies to join in the support.

For every goal that Iceland scored during the tournament, Alvogen pledged to donate 1 million ISK* ($10,000) to UNICEF, with a minimum of $30,000 in donation, to provide play boxes full of toys and games for children in troubled areas around the world. Iceland is the home of Alvotech, Alvogen´s sister company and the location of our state-of-the-art biotech facility.

“Football unites the world in play and joy. We want to take advantage of this power and make the world a better place for children. We ask other companies to join us - the ball is with you. We want to make sure that children can be children. Not only do child-friendly areas encourage learning and development through play, they also provide a space where children can find safety and support during difficult times.” - Robert Wessman, CEO

We are extremely proud of the performance of the Icelandic team but Iceland is the smallest nation (340,000 people) ever to compete at the World Cup. Unfortunately the team did not make it to the quarter finals but they put up a great fight and helped us raise the money that will provide thousands of children in need with both toys and educational materials.

The campaign ended up raising over 8 million ISK ($80,000) that will be used to provide 414 recreational boxes to the children.
